About Phil

Phil has always been an avid sports fan, and it was this love of sports that led to the beginning of his accounting career. While playing football with Michael Grew he was offered an accounting position, becoming the very first employee at BLG, where he worked while completing his Chartered Accounting studies.

Venturing overseas for work and travel over many years, Phil worked with Ernst & Young in the UK on a wide range of private and publicly owned businesses. These experiences allowed him to appreciate the importance of really understanding each person’s different requirements and motivations. Returning to Australia and BLG in 2007, Phil has taken the opportunity to build lasting relationships with his clients. He listens, and clients appreciate his rational and caring approach.

While he has experience in many different areas such as accounting, taxation, SMSFs, auditing, and business planning, Phil particularly enjoys providing advice on buying and selling businesses and business structuring. Outside of work Phil loves taking early morning surfs at his local beach and spending time with his family. He’s a keen Arsenal supporter and still gets involved at his local football club.
